OUR STORY
The journey of Balaji commenced with a desire to bring the authentic flavours of home to the Indian diaspora across Europe. As our founders left the warmth of home to unlock new opportunities, they were enveloped in the yearning for the rich aromas and tastes they cherished and shared with loved ones back home.
As time passed, they overcame many challenges of living in a foreign country- but what lingered and infact grew intense was the longing to cherish meals that felt like home. Even when everything was going well, there was a sense of incompleteness that wouldn’t go away. In that moment of longing, feeling of nostalgia, and an unstoppable love for Indian cuisine, the vision for Balaji was born.
They soon realized that they were not the only ones experiencing this feeling and recognized that there was a scope for a big market. Just as they took a step ahead, they found things began to fall into place, and everything started to make more sense. Soon they started sourcing items directly from farmers in India, ensuring every product carried the genuine taste of tradition.
The yearning was now turned into a mission to bring the essence of home-cooked meals for those who miss it. Today, we carefully select items from different states, capturing the authenticity and diversity of flavours. We also ensure that farmers cultivate using traditional methods, preserving the essence of each ingredient.
Our commitment to quality is at the heart of our product delivery, with traditional values sustained through rigorous review, testing, and approval by various Dutch and international quality boards. We proudly collaborate with Wageningen University, renowned as the world’s best agricultural university, ensuring excellence in our produce, packaging, and quality.
